Melanie Farber, co-owner, CEO and Supervisor of Direct Care for AdvantagePlusCaregivers.com – Ventura County, is a Certified Senior Advisor and Geriatric Care Manager. Prior to purchasing AdvantagePlusCaregivers.com – Ventura County Franchise in 2014 with her business partner, Helena Mossembekker, they were co-founders and owners of PERSONAL PARENT CARE, INC., with over 23 years experience in the field of Elder Care (Geriatric Care Management, Facility Placement Referrals, and In Home Care) Melanie also has conducted classes, seminars and workshops throughout the County on “Caring For Aging Parents” and organized for many years what was at that time the largest Senior Expo in the County, held at the County Fairgrounds. Prior to owning Personal Parent Care, Inc., her experience was as a corporate vice president for a large, international non-profit organization, during which time she traveled extensively worldwide. She also was President and of a subsidiary television production and media marketing company, a photojournalist, and responsible for all marketing and sales personnel worldwide for the same international organization.Her professional associations in the past have been as a Board Member, Committee Chair or member of the Alzheimer’s Association, Senior Nutrition Action Council, American Business Women’s Association, Ventura County Adult Abuse Prevention Council, and currently a Committee Chair for the Ventura County Homecare Association and Focus on Seniors Educational/Networking group.
Helena Mossembekker : Co- Owner/Administrator
Helena Mossembekker graduated from Rio Hondo College with a degree in business. She is a member of the Society of Certified Senior Advisors (CSA). She currently serves as a board member for the Ventura County Adult Abuse Prevention Council and the Buena Vista Hospice Advisory Board. Helena has also served on the board of The Senior Nutrition Action Council (SNAC) a fundraising arm of the Meals On Wheels Program for seniors in Ventura County. She regularly attends Focus on Seniors, a group of professionals serving the senior community of Ventura County. Ms. Mossembekker is passionate about providing professional, dignified care to seniors in need. Being a power of attorney and trustee for a number of family members gives her first-hand knowledge and experience of the challenges that many seniors and their families go through, thus enabling her to assist with sensitivity and understanding. Helena was born in Indonesia, but immigrated to the Netherlands at the age of 4 where she lived and attended school in Amsterdam. She moved to the United States in 1971 and has lived in Camarillo, California since 1989. She has been married to her husband of 38 years and has 2 adult children and recently became a proud grandmother. Her family has lived in various parts of the country due to her husband's aerospace career. Helena thoroughly loves international traveling and has many hobbies which include baking and knitting to name a few.
